My name is Tiffany Marie Luke (I use Tiffany Marie as my art name). I live in Michigan and own LaFille Gallery in the center of downtown Lansing. I am a wife, mom, Mimi, best friend, and an artist. My mission in life is to create! I have always been around art; it is not just something I study, it is my way of life.
Most of my work is done at my gallery, LaFille - meaning "the girl" in French and sounds like lafee- is a work of art in itself! I have poured my heart and soul into this special place. It is a 4-story, 10,000 square foot brick building that serves as both a place to display my original artwork and as a canvas for my indoor/outdoor (commercial & Residential) decorative finishing work. It is the place that allows me to be that "crazy artist lady"!
My Medium of choice is concrete; however, I have experience using other mediums such as epoxy, paint, metal, and foam to name a few. I use whatever medium I can to make a piece come to life. Concrete is not the easiest medium to work with. Since it sets up so quickly, I have a very limited amount of time to carve it, before I have to use hand chisels and Dremel tool, therefore I have to work layer by layer with patience, dedication and time. I work diligently with it, but even so, these pieces take me hours, days, weeks, months and sometimes years to finish them.
My inspiration for each piece usually comes from a situation that I have experienced on my journey through life. These situations range from life-changing moments- relationships, drastic moves, illness, adventurous trips- to my children's simple questions from long ago ("Mom, if white milk comes from white cows, where does strawberry milk come from?" - basis for Ms Fruity Pebbles, the cow art piece). With each piece, I grow as a person, friend, mom, and artist. My art changes with me; as I grow, the detail and intricacies of my art grow too. These pieces are my outlet; their detail, layers, and style are unique and each evokes their own story.
Much of my work is commissioned to fit a person's home or business, When making plans to begin a piece of art, I consider the individual's unique life experiences. I try and put myself in their shoes so to make the art represent their personality, lifestyle, career, and family. I listen to them and try my best to create a piece of art that fits their needs. This art is always about the people I make it for.
